Bison Doors

"I’ve thought long and hard about posting this review as I don’t particularly like to bad mouth a local business but please, please avoid using Bison for your windows / doors. We have used them previously and had a good experience although remedial issues can be a challenge. We decided to go with them again for our full house of windows and patio doors and spent over £13,000 with them. Lots of emails were sent back and forth with things not being fully ironed out prior to installation. I made it really clear that any changes we needed to agree to a price on prior to installation as we were in the middle of a full house renovation and due a baby so money was tight. With both the patio doors and windows a second ‘survey’ or quote would appear after with more money and increased costs - we disputed this both times and said we hadn’t agreed to costs changing. When this happened we’d then be told something was added on that wasn’t discussed and they’d ’absorbed the costs’. I just found this to be an absolute load of rubbish as if they’d done the site survey correctly all of these costs should have been accounted to previously. We paid what was originally agreed and as a result of disputing these costs they have then left us with an unfinished window which is both dangerous and unsafe (see image). We also have no FENSA or equivalent certificates so if we come to sell the house will be liable to pay indemnity insurance. Another window company checked for us and they hadn’t even been registered. I have made numerous attempts to contact them to get this window fitted and they are completely ignored - I even stated that if the window wasn’t completed and certificates supplied we would take them to the small claims court. Again, ignored! In the end we have decided to pay a more reputable window company to finish the window and will have to pay our local council for certificates for the window - I kept £200 back as I wasn’t prepared to pay in full for an unfinished job, it’s going to cost us a lot more to sort it out. I did just want to leave this review however to put anyone off using Bison as I really wouldn’t want them to go through the stress we have with them and if anything does go wrong with the windows / doors we are 13,000 out of pocket with no chance of getting them sorted. We had numerous trades in the house during the house Reno and absolutely nobody has given us as much as a headache as Bison have - I doubt they’ll care less at the stress they’ve caused us but hopefully prospective customers will think twice."

"I was recommended Bison by a colleague who had work done by them, and honestly I cannot fault them at all! They were the cheapest of the 3 quotes I got and Shaun was absolutely fantastic throughout the process. There was no high pressure sales techniques, just a straightforward quote and an excellent product. I had 8 windows installed and Bison sent two teams to install them so they were all done in 1 day which was absolutely incredible. The lads who installed the windows were polite and friendly, and they've done an amazing job. I keep admiring our new windows as it's made such a difference from our old drafty windows. No drafts even during the recent storm! I cannot recommend Bison highly enough."

"Bison doors have been exemplary in their service. The task was to fit 5m bi fold doors to a very unstable extension. They secured the roof, fit new steel supports both upper and sides. Removed all existing breeze blocks. This was no easy task. It was completed in one and a half days. Their workmanship and product is by far the best I have ever experienced. Communication was superb throughout. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend them for doors and windows. Thank you to all at BISON."
